Leisure Plan
Based in Stansted Mountfitchet, just four miles from Stansted Airport and 35 minutes by rail from London Liverpool Street, Leisure Plan’s converted chapel headquarters dates back to 1836, and is in striking contrast to its showroom stocked with stunning 21st century outdoor furniture.
Alongside the main sales office and cushion workshop, this is now the centre of a thriving business supplying über stylish outdoor and indoor furniture and expert advice to architects, interior designers and specifiers.
Founded in the late 1980s, Leisure Plan quickly established itself as a vital link in the marketing and distribution of high quality, individually designed furniture for the outdoor leisure and hospitality market. The company’s philosophy from the outset was to specialise in original and inspiring design. Investment in large stockholdings has enabled Leisure Plan to offer a complete service to interior designers, architects and specifiers with products that cannot be found in a local garden centre.
Products from the Leisure Plan portfolio therefore retain an element of exclusivity – music to the ears of designers, specifiers and high-end hospitality establishments who aim to offer their clients ‘something different’. Leisure Plan is the exclusive UK distributor of the DEDON, Ego and Fischer Möbel brands, each one a winner of the prestigious Red Dot Award.
Not content with supplying these award-winning brands alone, Leisure Plan offers a level of service unrivalled by its competitors. From its own workshop the company offers bespoke cushions enabling customers to create their own upholstery specifications using either the vast range of stocked outdoor fabrics or the increasingly popular COM service. All standard fabrics are treated to CRIB 5, the fire retardant rating that meets the legislative standard for use in public environments.
A personalised delivery service extends beyond mainland UK and worldwide shipping and door-to-door delivery is frequently arranged on projects by Leisure Plan’s customer service team, leaving architects and designers free to concentrate on their clients’ needs.
DEDON
DEDON furniture is designed by international designers and produced to German manufacturing standards with each piece individually hand woven. Quality control at the DEDON wholly owned and managed Cebu Phillipines factory ensures the highest quality products and avoidance of the many problems associated with sub-contracted production. In this respect every piece of furniture embodies a combination of modern technology and century-old craftsmanship.
Much of the success of DEDON stems from its highly durable synthetic fibre developed over 18 years ago and manufactured at its headquarters in the north German town of Luneburg. The unique fibre is considered to be the ‘original’ in the industry and the ‘Made by DEDON’ seal stands for the highest standards of quality and durability. The fibre is completely weatherproof, washable and easy to clean. It is not affected by salt water, sunlight, high or low temperatures… it is also biodegradable. For these reasons, DEDON is widely considered to be the market leader in the synthetic woven furniture market. Often imitated – but never matched, DEDON continues to introduce innovative and inspired ideas that stimulate the market.
Ego paris
The Ego brand was launched in 2002 by a consortium headed by Leisure Plan’s MD Chris McCormack and renowned furniture designer Thomas Sauvage. Ego is based at Belleville in the heart of France’s Beaujolais region and has already established an enviable reputation for innovative, high quality design, a claim endorsed by the Tandem Sunlounger, which received the Red Dot award ‘Best of the Best’.
All of the uniquely profiled aluminium frames in heat-hardened, powder coated finish are available in 16 standard colour choices, married with 16 colour-ways of high tensile polyester mesh. This potentially creates a choice of 256 colour combinations across all three collections: PREMIER, TANDEM and KAMA. The newly installed sophisticated powder coating plant also now enables architects and designers to specify a bespoke frame colour from the huge RAL colour specifications.
The latest collection, KAMA, has been designed by Benjamin Ferriol and is a range of contemporary and unique modular seating and adjustable tables. KAMA enables seats to be transformed effortlessly into various combinations by re-configuring the cushions…a simple and clever way of creating conviviality with minimal effort. From single footstools to oversized daybeds the KAMA collection is ideal for any project, be it a small-scale residential space, or high spec hotel design, providing the ultimate in flexibility. With a three-year manufacturer’s warranty covering both residential and commercial installations, KAMA can be specified with complete confidence.
Fischer Möbel
Standing for innovation over monotony, quality over mass production and functionality over the simply useful, Stuttgart based Fischer Möbel has design integrity at the heart of its business.
Only the highest grade materials are used, with frames in stainless steel or aluminium that combine with glass, granite and ceramic table tops. Seating uses dimensionally stable tear-proof slings and incorporates automotive industry technology to create the subtle but stunning shapes found in the new Kyoto collection.
The Kyoto range, designed by Wolf-Udo Wagner, received an honourable mention in the Red Dot Awards in 2008. Based on the Japanese art of Origami, it is inspired by natural shapes and the range mimics the forms of folded leaves to create an aesthetic and comfortable seat and back shell. Comprising arm and side chairs, ceramic top tables, foam sunbeds and footstools, the Kyoto collection is as individual as it is durable.
DEDON, Ego and Fischer Möbel products can be viewed at the Leisure Plan showroom which is just a five minute drive from the M11. If arriving by plane or train, private transport can be arranged.
